Destination spotlight – Mauritius

Are you looking for your next incentive destination to reward your top performers?
Then the spectacular island nation of Mauritius, nestled in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, could be the ideal solution.

Mauritius is undoubtedly both aspirational and inspirational. While it falls within the long-haul trip category, it is a great choice as with only a 3-hour time difference it makes short work of any jet lag. Plus there are direct daily overnight flights from London, maximising the time in the sun!

Geography and history

Mauritius is a stunning volcanic island fringed by gorgeous white sandy beaches and crystal clear turquoise lagoons. Her interior is filled with mountains, lush forests and fields of sugar cane, pineapples and banana plantations. Mauritius is also home to some of the world’s rarest animals and plants.

It is rich in interesting history, first discovered in the 10th century by Arabic sailors, then subsequently colonised by the Dutch, the French and the British. The island has also seen arrivals from its close neighbours Africa and India. All of these influences hugely contribute to its wonderful melting pot of cultures and some of the best hospitality and gourmet cuisine on the planet.

Incentive ideas

Added to that is a wealth of luxurious hotels scattered along its shores. No building rises higher than the surrounding palm trees. There are endless options for daytime activities that distract from the daily ‘grind’ of beach and pool. Why not try zip-lining, quad biking and swimming with dolphins? Or even horse riding on the beach, golf, speedboat rides, snorkelling and scuba diving. You can even have a speedboat or helicopter transfer to your hotel and hire an exclusive private island for your Gala Dinner!
