In addition, teams can come together socially in the evening, or simply switch off and enjoy the space.
Geography and history
Set in the heart of Northamptonshire countryside, Silverstone sits on the borders of Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire surrounded by open landscapes and traditional English villages. While rural and understated at first glance, it’s a place synonymous with energy, innovation and global sporting prestige.
Silverstone’s modern identity is rooted in its extraordinary motorsport heritage. Originally built as a Royal Air Force bomber station during the Second World War, the site was transformed in 1948 into a racing circuit. It then went on to host the very first Formula One World Championship race in 1950. Since then, it has become one of the most iconic venues in international motorsport.
The Silverstone Circuit remains the defining landmark of the area. Attracting visitors from around the world for major sporting events, exhibitions and driving experiences. Beyond the track, the surrounding countryside offers a contrasting sense of calm, with historic market towns and classic rural pubs close by.
