Emily’s First Six Months

Blog | ZiaBia Team

When I joined ZiaBia Events Consultancy six months ago, I expected to learn a lot about events. However, I didn’t anticipate just how much I would grow, how many incredible places I’d visit, or how quickly I’d feel part of a team that genuinely cares about doing things brilliantly.

Why ZiaBia?

After completing my apprenticeship, I knew I wanted to stay in an environment where I could keep learning and developing my skills whilst gaining valuable hands-on experience. ZiaBia stood out to me because of the variety of work. Also, the opportunity to be involved in so many different aspects of events from the start appealed to me.

It felt like a place where I wouldn’t just be watching from the sidelines but actually getting stuck in and building real experience. Being part of a team that values creativity, collaboration, and attention to detail made it an easy choice!

My journey so far

One of the standout moments of these six months has been getting to visit a range of venues during our team days. This really broadened my understanding of the spaces available to us. I’ve also been lucky enough to support projects abroad, giving me an exciting first taste of working internationally. This showed just how varied the events world can be. Experiencing these venues in person has helped me see how each space influences the overall event experience and given me a much deeper appreciation for the research, planning and decision‑making that happens behind the scenes.

I learned so much already simply by observing how to fix problems calmly, how to communicate clearly under pressure, how to anticipate needs before they become problems. Those lessons have stayed with me. Each project has brought new challenges and new opportunities to stretch myself. I have become more confident in client interactions, more organised in managing multiple tasks, and more proactive in taking ownership of my work. The support from the amazing team has made all the difference. They have all encouraged me, trusted me, and gave me space to develop at my own pace. At the same time, they still pushed me to improve.

What’s next?

What I love most about working at ZiaBia is that no two days feel the same. One moment I’m researching venues, the next I’m drafting event documents and the next I’m helping bring a client’s vision to life. It’s dynamic, creative, and endlessly rewarding. I’ve felt myself becoming more confident and more excited about the career I’m building.

Six months in and I can honestly say I’ve learned more than I ever expected – not just about events, but about teamwork, communication, and trusting myself to rise to new challenges. If the next six months are anything like the first, I know I’m in for an incredible journey.

Would I recommend ZiaBia?

Absolutely, it’s a great place to learn and you get to be a part of a team that genuinely supports each other. The variety of work keeps things interesting, and there’s always something new to get involved in. It’s a really positive environment to be part of, and somewhere I’ve been able to build confidence. Here, my love for events continues to grow every day.
