Payments Performance

Case Study | Face to Face Event Management

Event Details

  • Number attended: 85
  • Year: 2017
  • Client: Elavon
  • Location: London, England
Our previous event for Elavon, back in November 2016, would take some topping. After all, how do you go one better than securing Westminster Abbey for a client and their customers?!

The brief for the event in 2017 was slightly different though. Instead of being held over two days, this year Elavon required a 1 day event with up to 100 attendees. The style of the event was to be informative and educational, discussing what is new within the Payments Industry. The day also had to incorporate networking.

The Brief

We still wanted to deliver the wow factor for this event by finding the perfect venue. This was confirmed as BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, located in the heart of the West End. Yes, it was BAFTA, as in that BAFTA, the British Academy of Film Television Arts!

195 Piccadilly has been the home of BAFTA since the early 1970’s. The venue has premiered films, hosted the biggest stars in the film, television and games industries and served as a meeting point for industry creatives. It is also used as a venue for private hire which is where ZiaBia took over the reins for this one-day event.

The Event

As well as sourcing the venue, ZiaBia managed the save the dates, invitations and all of the delegate management for the day. We were also asked to source a guest speaker for the event. So we arranged for a BBC journalist talk to the group in the morning around Brexit.

Staying true to the BAFTA theme, we managed to confrim Brian Falconer (a 2015 BAFTA award winner for his short film Boogaloo and Graham) to talk to the group at the end of the day. Brian hosted an intro before the film screening and even brought his award along for everyone to pass around. This was held in the prestigious Princess Anne Theatre where the audience was captivated by the film and fully engaged with Brian’s Q&A afterwards.

To top the event off, our client wanted a more informal gathering with a 1920’s style movie theme. An elaborate canapé style buffet and cocktails were served and Amber Topaz performed songs of the era.

The best laid plans of mice and men that often go awry can be true in the world of events management, however this one ran as smoothly as any event we have been involved with!
